The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) has today announced the shortlist for the RIBA Client of the Year 2017. The annual award, supported by The Bloxham Charitable Trust, recognises the role that a good client plays in the creation of fine architecture.
The 2017 shortlist is:
- Bedales School
for Bedales School Art and Design Building, Hampshire by Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios - Forestry Commission
for Wolfson Tree Management Centre, Gloucestershire by Invisible Studio; also Stihl Treetop Walkway by Glenn Howells Architects - London Borough of Enfield
for Dujardin Mews, London by Karakusevic Carson Architects (with Maccreanor Lavington) - Tate
for Tate Modern Blavatnik Building (Switch House), London by Herzog & de Meuron
Tom Bell, RIBA Gloucestershire Chair said: “Westmorland Limited won the RIBA Client of the Year 2016 for ‘Gloucester Services’ designed by Glenn Howells Architects. We are therefore delighted to see further recognition for Gloucestershire clients, who continue to strive for excellence in design, with the nomination of the Forestry Commission for two exceptional projects at Westonbirt Arboretum”.
The winner of RIBA Client of the Year 2017 will be announced at the RIBA Stirling Prize party on Tuesday 31 October at The Roundhouse in central London.
